Barbara Grimes, 15, and Patricia Grimes, 12, leave their home in the McKinley Park area of Chicago's South Side to see the Elvis Presley film Love Me Tender at the Brighton Theater in Brighton Park. Fans of Presley, the girls had reportedly seen the film several times already. They are last confirmed seen at or near the theater that evening and do not return home.

Deputy base commander Lt Col Charles Halt leads a follow-up team into the forest overnight, taking radiation readings and recording events in real time on a micro-cassette as further lights are observed.
- 2004Apophis 2029 impactScience, Space & Technology
Within a day, older “precovery” images of Apophis from March 2004 are located, extending the observation arc. The added data sharply narrows the orbit and drops the 2029 impact odds effectively to zero. The Torino rating falls back to 0, but the scare has already entered popular culture.

The Musharraf government announces it has intercepted a phone call attributing the attack to Baitullah Mehsud, head of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). Mehsud’s spokesman denies any involvement. The Interior Ministry also points to al-Qaeda and the militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

At a military event, Chavez muses aloud that it is 'very strange' that he and several other left-leaning Latin American leaders have all developed cancer, and asks whether the US could have invented a way to induce the disease undetectably. He explicitly says he is not accusing anyone and has no proof.
