    The Van Meter VisitorCryptids & Monsters

    A group of armed townsmen gathers at the mine entrance to wait. According to the accounts, at daybreak the creature emerges, this time accompanied by a second one. The men open fire; the creatures descend into the mine shaft.

    Baba Vanga's propheciesDoomsday & Prophecy

    Vangeliya Pandeva Surcheva is born in Strumica, then part of the Ottoman Empire and now in North Macedonia. She will later be known by her married name, Gushterova, and popularly as Baba Vanga.

    MV JoyitaUnsolved Crimes & Disappearances

    At about 5:00 a.m. the Joyita leaves Apia harbour in Western Samoa bound for the Tokelau Islands, roughly 270 nautical miles away, a voyage expected to take about two days. Aboard are 25 people: 16 crew and 9 passengers, including a government medical officer and copra cargo. She is chartered and captained by Thomas H. “Dusty” Miller.

    The government reports only a small number of dead and casts the event as a firefight, saying its soldiers were fired on first by armed agitators. Newspapers largely echo the official account. Survivors, foreign journalists, and diplomats report a far higher toll.

    Judge Subramanian sentences Combs to 50 months in prison, a $500,000 fine, and five years of supervised release. His lawyers file an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which remains pending.

    The ENTSO-E expert panel publishes its factual report, attributing the collapse to fast voltage rises and cascading generator disconnections that developed over roughly thirty seconds. Its final report, with recommendations, follows in March 2026. Neither finds any sign of a deliberate attack.
