Why the idea isn't pure nonsense (and where it breaks)

That is the whole mechanism in miniature: a comedy piece is copied without its context, mutates into a sincere claim, and then gets a megaphone from an account large enough to make millions of people wonder. None of that adds a shred of evidence that Biden was executed or replaced. It only shows how a baseless idea can acquire reach it never earned on the merits.
Why the swap story feels true to some
Belief here runs on emotion more than evidence. For people who dislike Biden intensely, “he is not even the real person” is a cleaner story than accepting that a legitimately elected opponent held the office. The claim also resolves the genuine discomfort of watching a familiar face age in public: the change is real, and “substitution” is a tidier explanation than the messy truth of time and health.
It helps that the idea arrived with infrastructure.
