    A crashed Libyan Air Force MiG-23 is found on Mount Sila in Castelsilano, Calabria. Its condition and reported date of loss become a lasting subplot: some investigators tie it to the events of 27 June, while official Libyan and later Italian accounts place its loss on a different day and attribute it to pilot hypoxia.

    AMIA bombing cover-upGovernment & Intelligence

    A van carrying an estimated several hundred kilograms of explosives is driven into the AMIA building on Pasteur street in central Buenos Aires and detonated, collapsing the structure. The attack kills 85 people and injures around 300, two years after a 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in the city had killed 29.

    A Berlin court convicts Manfred Ewald, the former head of the East German sports federation, and Dr. Manfred Hoeppner, its former chief sports physician, as accessories to intentional bodily harm of athletes, including minors. Both receive suspended sentences.

    Kelly's body is found in the morning in woodland at Harrowdown Hill, a short distance from his home. Thames Valley Police open an investigation. A knife and a packet of co-proxamol painkillers are recovered near the scene.

Ahead of it, no government, utility, or space-weather agency has issued any warning, and there is no mechanism by which a coordinated global outage could be switched on; as with every prior dated version of this hoax, the expected outcome is an ordinary day.
