By Robert Salas's later account, he is on duty deep underground at Oscar Flight when security police call to report a glowing red object hovering over the front gate, moving without sound. Minutes later, he says, the flight's missiles begin dropping off alert.

As Romero finishes his homily at an evening Mass in the chapel of the Hospital de la Divina Providencia, a gunman fires a single shot from the chapel doorway, striking him in the chest. He dies within minutes. No one is arrested at the scene.

The wave's signature night: a huge V or boomerang of colored lights is reported moving slowly and silently across Westchester and neighboring counties, including along the Taconic State Parkway. A local UFO hotline logs more than 300 calls for that night alone, and the Yorktown police switchboard is so jammed that officials worry about missing emergency calls.

Around 5:30 a.m., Ron Bradley wakes and sees Amy asleep on a lounge chair on the cabin's private balcony. When he looks again shortly before 6:00 a.m., she is gone, and so are her cigarettes and lighter. The family alerts ship staff as the vessel approaches Curacao.

In the days after the fire, police searching properties linked to the movement begin uncovering mass graves. Bodies are found in a pit latrine at Kanungu and, in far larger numbers, at other sites including the former priest Dominic Kataribabo's home at Rugazi and compounds at Buhunga and Rushojwa. Many of the dead had been poisoned or stabbed and were in advanced decomposition, indicating they had died before the fire.

On camera, Michigan resident and superfan Mike Agrusa admits he fabricated the clip, using vintage cameras, period props, and a ghillie suit to play the creature himself. The most compelling piece of "evidence" for the Dogman is confirmed a hoax.

Analysing the handshake timing and frequency data, the UK satellite operator Inmarsat and investigators conclude the aircraft flew south into the remote southern Indian Ocean. Malaysia announces the flight 'ended' there with no survivors, though no wreckage has yet been found.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declares a state of national energy emergency through Executive Order No. 110, citing the war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, and sharply rising global oil prices.
