    Che Guevara executionGovernment & Intelligence

    Around midday, after Felix Rodriguez has questioned Guevara, an order arrives by radio from Bolivian Army Headquarters in La Paz to kill him. Sergeant Mario Terán shoots Guevara in the schoolhouse in the early afternoon; the army records the time of death to make it look like he fell in combat.

    A second wave, postmarked the same day, is sent to US Senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy. These letters carry a more refined, highly concentrated powder and force the closure of Senate office buildings and mail facilities.

    The 'Malala drama' smearGovernment & Intelligence

    Gunmen board Malala Yousafzai's school van in the Swat Valley, ask for her by name, and shoot the 15-year-old in the head and neck. Two classmates are also wounded. She had been known since 2009 for a BBC Urdu diary on life under Taliban rule.
