    Trujillo assassinationGovernment & Intelligence

    American officials pass three .30-caliber M1 carbines to the dissidents. Three pistols are also furnished over the course of US contact with the group. Per the later record, the carbines eventually reach conspirator Antonio de la Maza.

    The Lee 'curse'Hoaxes & Pop Culture

    On the Wilmington, North Carolina set of The Crow, Brandon Lee, 28, films a scene in which his character is shot. A prop .44 revolver, previously loaded with dummy rounds improvised on set, fires and strikes Lee in the abdomen. He is rushed to surgery but dies hours later.

    Iraq WMDGovernment & Intelligence

    The Robb-Silberman Commission, appointed by President Bush, reports that the intelligence community was “dead wrong in almost all of its prewar judgments” about Iraqi WMD, calling it a major intelligence failure but finding no evidence that analysts altered their judgments under political pressure.

    The Farlam Commission submits its report to President Zuma. It finds the police operation was conducted under a defective plan, that the 'tactical option' should not have been implemented that day, and that senior police leadership subsequently sought to conceal how the decision came about. It criticises Lonmin and the unions, and finds no basis to hold named politicians legally responsible.

    Corona JihadHoaxes & Pop Culture

    Authorities identify the Markaz as a COVID-19 cluster; thousands of attendees are traced and quarantined, and cases linked to the event are reported across several states. As with crowded gatherings worldwide that spring, the venue became a transmission site. Coverage almost immediately shifts from an epidemiological story to a communal one.

    Imran Khan cypher plotGovernment & Intelligence

    The National Security Committee, chaired by Khan, reviews the cable and decides to issue a 'strong demarche' to an unnamed country over what it calls 'blatant interference' in Pakistan's internal affairs.

    UAP disclosure (2026)UFOs & Aliens

    The House Oversight Committee's declassification task force, chaired by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, writes to the Secretary of War requesting 46 UAP video files that whistleblowers say AARO holds. The department misses her mid-April deadline, feeding the perception of continued withholding.
